Blackburn Rovers' Republic of Ireland international Jeff Kenna is to join Wigan Athletic on a month's loan.

Blackburn Rovers' Republic of Ireland international Jeff Kenna is to join Wigan Athletic on a month's loan.

The 31-year-old is Rovers' longest-serving player and the last remaining link with the Premiership winning team of 1995.

Having battled his way back to fitness after serious injury, he has been unable to force his way into the first team.

Blackburn's website says they have awarded Kenna a free transfer, as a reward for his loyalty.

If the paperwork is completed in time, he could make his Latics debut on Saturday.
