Soccer: McCarthy to watch Asian play-off

The first leg of the Asian Group World Cup play-off gets under way later today, when Iran meet the United Arab Emirates in Tehran.

Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has flown out to watch the game at the Azadi Stadium.

Iranian Football Federation Spokesperson, Hassam Gaffari, has said that despite fears there is no security problem in the region.

Ireland will meet the winners of the play-off, with the first leg at Lansdowne Road on November 10.
