Soccer: Barclaycard stand by ITV decision
Premiership sponsors Barclaycard refused to be drawn on the effects the re-scheduling of ‘‘The Premiership’’ TV programme will have on them.
Barclaycard’s head of public relations Mark Gonnella said: ‘‘We are delighted with the amount of Barclaycard Premiership football that is on our TV screens.
‘‘We are looking forward now to watching it both on Saturday night and Sunday mornings. It’s an exciting campaign which has got everybody riveted.’’
Not even the possible increase in ratings which could result from moving the first showing of the programme to later in the Saturday evening schedule could draw Barclaycard into a comment.
‘‘The TV decision-makers are the people who will need to talk about the whys and wherefores,’’ added Gonnella.
