Derry City moved up to second in the table after a deserved win over second

bottom Monaghan.

Padraig Moran put in-form Derry in front on 29 minutes. Tommy McCallion did

the spade work, running 30 yards to set up Moran who shot past Robbie Forde.

A route one approach brought Monaghan level five minutes before the break.

Forde's long kick out ran through to Darren McKenna and he shot past Russell

Payne.

Gary Beckett restored Derry's lead when punished a calamity in the Monaghan

defence on 64 minutes.

Forde headed a back pass from Mick Scully straight to the Derry striker who

lobbed the ball home.
