FAI general secretary Brendan Menton will meet FIFA officials in Prague later this week to clarify the situation surrounding Ireland’s World Cup play-off.

FAI general secretary Brendan Menton will meet FIFA officials in Prague later this week to clarify the situation surrounding Ireland’s World Cup play-off.

Ireland are set to meet the third-placed team from the Asian Confederation, most likely to be a Middle Eastern country.

With the US launching attacks on Afghanistan, there is uncertainty about the play-off. However, the FAI said it is making plans for the first leg in Dublin on November 10th anyway.
