Billy Clery earned Galway United their first home point of the season from

the penalty spot.

The United skipper stepped up to drill home from 12 yards on 32 minutes after

Town defender Paul McNally tripped Ollie Keogh.

Prior to that it had been a happy return to Terryland Park for former Galway

striker Eric Lavine who shot Longford in front after just five minutes.

Lavine ran clear onto Alan Kirby's pass to shoot under Eddie Hickey.
