Sunderland striker faces misconduct charge
Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips is facing a possible Football Association disciplinary measures after allegedly elbowing Lee Hendrie in yesterday’s match at Villa Park.
FA officials are examining video footage of the goalless draw in which the England forward had received a yellow card for fouling a player.
This happened before the alleged elbowing incident which occurred towards the end of the match and involved the same player.
If the charge of misconduct is proven, Phillips could face a possible ban. Recent incidents studied by the FA advisory panel resulted in bans imposed on Arsenal’s Martin Keown and Patrick Vieira.
