Coventry manager Gordon Strachan has left the club by mutual consent following the Sky Blues' poor start to life in the First Division.

Coventry manager Gordon Strachan has left the club by mutual consent following the Sky Blues' poor start to life in the First Division.

The 44-year-old had been at Highfield Road for five years but oversaw the club's relegation from the top-flight for the first time in 34 years.

Coventry chairman Bryan Richardson said: "I wish to place on record our sincere thanks and appreciation for Gordon's efforts on our behalf both as a player and as manager."
