Soccer: Little fan violence following Munich match
There was little trouble in Munich last night following the English victory over Germany at Olympic Stadium.
160 football fans were arrested, 60 of whom are thought to be English.
Munich remained relatively quiet after the match, with most bars remaining closed.
England stunned thrilled fans, and themselves, in Munich last night with an incredible 5-1 win over Germany.
Sven Goran Eriksson’s side started slowly, conceding a goal to the Germans after only six minutes.
Six minutes later, Michael Owen equalised, only to return twice more to the back of the net, making him only the second person to score a hat trick against Germany in English soccer history.
Steven Gerrard made it 2-1 on the half-time whistle and Emile Heskey closed the deal, scoring an unbelievable fifth goal in the 74th minute.
England still sits three points behind Germany in the Group 9 table, but a win against Albania on Wednesday coupled with last night’s five goals, should see the side go top of the group.
