Derry earned their first win of the campaign to inflict a second defeat on

newly promoted Monaghan at the Brandywell.

Stephen Parkhouse put Derry ahead on 18 minutes with a dipping volley from

Eamonn Doherty's cross.

It was 2-0 five minutes before the break when Nick McCarville pulled down

Jamie Hughes and Tommy McCallion drove home the penalty.
