SPL: Livingston hold Rangers at Ibrox
LIVINGSTON`S wonderful introduction to Scotland`s top-flight continued on Saturday as they held Rangers to a 0-0 draw at Ibrox, as Dunfermline maintained their 100 percent record with a 2-0 win over St Johnstone.
Livingston beat Hearts in their first ever SPL game last week, and now they have travelled to title tips Rangers and claimed a memorable point.
Dick Advocaat`s side attacked constantly, but they failed to break down the well marshalled defence of the West Lothian outfit, and the Dutchman will be desperately disappointed to have slipped up in their first home game of the new season.
Dunfermline condemned St Johnstone to a second successive defeat as they grabbed all three points with goals with strikes from Barry Nicholson (6) and David Nicholls (55).
Hearts got their home campaign underway with a comfortable 1-0 win over Aberdeen.
Scottish international Colin Cameron gave his side the lead after just six minutes, but Craig Levein`s side should have more than doubled their lead, as they dominated from start to finish.
Dundee held of a strong challenge from last year`s surprise package Hibernian, to maintain their good start to the season.
Juan Sara scored his second goal of the season after just eight minutes and Ivan Bonetti`s side should have increased their lead before the interval.
The Taysiders continued their dominance in the second half, but it was Hibs who clawed themselves back onto level terms.
John O`Neil was the man who grabbed the equaliser just before the hour mark, but it took just a matter of minutes for Dundee to grab the crucial third goal when Fabian Caballero broke from midfield to hammer a wonderful winner after 62 minutes.
The final game of the day saw Dundee United secure another point as they held Motherwell at Fir Park, who will be happy just to have sgained a point after last week`s 5-2 hammering at the hands of Dunfermline.
