The Republic of Ireland U-16's have won the European youth Olympic championships after beating Spain 4-3 on penalties in today's final.

Brian Kerr once again proved a successful youth coach when his team claimed the victory despite having to come from behind twice.

The game finished level at 2-2 after normal time, William Flood and Paul Murphy were the Irish goalscorers, and extra time could not separate the two teams.

Irish goalkeeper, Alan Cosgrave proved the hero after he saved two of the Spanish penalties to win the game.
