Soccer: Fiorentina target sky blues keeper

Coventry goalkeeper Magnus Hedman has been targeted by Italian club Fiorentina following the Sky Blues’ relegation from the Premiership.

The Swedish international’s agent, Chris Elefalk, said the Serie A outfit were weighing up a bid of around £4million for Hedman.

‘‘We have had a few inquiries and I know that Fiorentina are interested,’’ he told Sweden’s Aftonbladet newspaper.

‘‘They are also looking at Piacenza’s Flavio Roma, but he would cost them about £8million and they could get Magnus for half that.’’

Fiorentina coach Roberto Mancini is keen to find a replacement for Italy international Francesco Toldo, who says he is ‘‘99% certain’’ to sign for Barcelona after eight years with the Florence club.

Hedman, 28, who is preparing for Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Moldova on Wednesday, preferred to concentrate on the match in Gothenburg.

‘‘The leagues in Italy and Spain are very exciting, but I’m not going to think about the future until Thursday,’’ he said.

He refused to be drawn on his situation at Coventry.

‘‘People can draw their own conclusions,’’ he said.
