Athletics: Sponsors wanted for athletes' condoms

Commonwealth Games organisers are looking for sponsors to fund the 150,000 condoms needed for the athletes’ village, it emerged today.

Staff in Manchester decided on the number for the 5,000 or so competitors and officials - after supplies at last year’s Sydney Olympics ran short.

A spokeswoman for the 2002 Games said: "There are a number of items that we have to supply for the sports village. We don’t have a sponsor for condoms so any offers will be welcome."
