Premiership: Spurs equalise with Sunderland

Tottenham have pulled two goals back against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Clemence scored on 53 mins for Glenn Hoddle's side and Gary Doherty levelled things on 75 mins.

Sunderland raced into a two-goal lead after only 12 minutes.

With only three minutes on the clock, Frenchman Patrice Carteron was allowed to cross left-footed from the right wing for Irish international Kevin Kilbane to arrive at the far post and slam the ball into the roof of the net.

Kilbane’s afternoon took a turn for the worse three minutes later when he was involved in a clash of heads with Ledley King which left both men needing extensive treatment.

The visitors fell further behind on 12 minutes after Stefan Schwarz drilled in a free-kick which Neil Sullivan did superbly well to keep out one-handed, but another Irish star - Niall Quinn followed up to drive the loose ball home.
