Premiership: Spurs pull a goal back
Sunderland 2, Tottenham 1 (latest)
Tottenham have pulled a goal back against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Clemence scored on 53 mins for Glenn Hoddle's side.
Sunderland raced into a two-goal lead after only 12 minutes.
With only three minutes on the clock, Frenchman Patrice Carteron was allowed to cross left-footed from the right wing for Irish international Kevin Kilbane to arrive at the far post and slam the ball into the roof of the net.
Kilbane’s afternoon took a turn for the worse three minutes later when he was involved in a clash of heads with Ledley King which left both men needing extensive treatment.
The visitors fell further behind on 12 minutes after Stefan Schwarz drilled in a free-kick which Neil Sullivan did superbly well to keep out one-handed, but another Irish star - Niall Quinn followed up to drive the loose ball home.
