FA Cup: No complacency in Liverpool camp

Nicky Barmby summed up Liverpool's approach to the FA Cup semi-final by claiming: "We will treat Wycombe just like Barcelona!"

The rest of the country - outside of a small corner of Buckinghamshire - believe Liverpool will be in the FA Cup Final come Sunday evening.

Bu the midfielder does not believe the Villa Park clash with the minnows will be easy.

Barmby said: "To other folk it looks like a completely contrasting two matches, Barcelona and Wycombe in four days. But we are treating it as if we are playing Barcelona all over again.

"We will be going into the game with a very professional attitude, which the manager instils in all the squad, so we are looking forward to it.

"I certainly wouldn't say it was a comedown, we've had two semi-finals, one in Europe and one in the FA Cup.

"It doesn't matter who you play, but I definitely don't see the Wycombe one being any less important.

"They are two big games and that's what we want for Liverpool to be successful. They are both equally stepping stones to the future. We are relishing the challenge.

"It shows the club are moving forward in the right direction and I just hope we can overcome the two hurdles."

He added: "It doesn't worry us that we are such hot favourites. If we go into the match with the right attitude, and the lads are spot on in that respect, we will put in a good performance."
