Makeshift striker Mick Doohan kept Bray on course for Europe with a first-half winner.
Doohan, nominally a central defender, played up front and stabbed home the only goal on 18 minutes following good work by partner Jason Byrne.
Doohan should have added to that after the break before UCD staged a late rally though to no avail.

Sean Francis scored after just 39 seconds before being sent-off at Terryland Park.
Francis tapped home to give Rovers the lead inside the first minute from a Shane Robinson cross.
He then saw red on 24 minutes when he retaliated to a tackle from Billy Clery.
Alan Murphy scored with a 25 yard shot on 32 minutes to earn Galway a point.

Ugandan international Mbabazi Livingstone scored his first goal for St. Pat's to move them to within three points of leaders Shelbourne.
Mbabazi struck to make it 2-0 on 59 minutes when volleying home following a corner.
Liam Kelly had scored from close range on eight minutes to put St. Pat's in front.
Stuart Holt, with a 25 yard shot, scored Longford's consolation goal on 82 minutes.

Shelbourne's title retention hopes are on the rocks after this damaging defeat reduced their lead to just three points.
Dave Hill headed Bohs in fornt on 15 minutes before Shels striker Richie Foran was sent-off for the third time this season minutes later.
Pat Scully headed Shels level on 64 minutes, but Bohs blitzed their Dublin rivals with three goals in four minutes.
Trevor Molloy, from a penalty, and further strikes from Alex Nesovic and Glen Crowe end the game as a contest.
Stephen Geoghegan scored Shels' second goal 15 minutes from time.
