Premiership: Spurs confirm Hoddle and Gorman deals

Tottenham have officially announced the appointment of Glenn Hoddle despite the continuing legal wrangling over his move from Southampton.

Spurs issued a statement to the stock market in which they said Hoddle and his assistant John Gorman had been given five-year contracts.

But they admitted the deal is still subject to a final settlement with the Saints, from whom Hoddle resigned last week.

A Tottenham statement read: "The board of Tottenham Hotspur announces that Glenn Hoddle has been appointed as football manager and John Gorman as assistant football manager of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, both under five-year contracts.

"The appointments take effect as of 2 April and remain subject to the completion of certain legal formalities with Southampton Football Club."

The club's non-executive chairman Daniel Levy said: "We have acted swiftly to bring in a management team with a proven track record and a Tottenham heritage."
