Mark Rutherford scored twice as Bohemians moved to within five points of leaders Shelbourne with a comfortable win at the Brandywell.

Winger Rutherford struck for the opener on 26 minutes when outpacing Paddy McLaughlin to shoot past John Connolly in the Derry goal.

Derry were weakened without the influential Peter Hutton and Paul Hegarty due to illness and injury and Bohs killed them off on 55 minutes.

Rutherford again found the target as his shot following a Paul Byrne cross deflected off a defender to beat Connolly again.
