Soccer: United PLC turnover up more than a quarter

Sheffield United PLC have recorded a 27% increase in turnover in their half-yearly results for the current trading year.

Turnover has boomed to £3.9m, compared to £3.1 for the same period in 1999.

Operating losses have also been reduced, from £2.5m to £1.6m.

Chairman Bernard Proctor said: "We expect the improved operating performance to be sustained in the second half of the financial year as a result of increase home attendances (from 12,649 to 15,763) and greater commercial revenue."
