FIFA officials checked the passports of all the Irish squad in the team hotel in Barcelona today in response to allegations over the eligibility of some Andorran players.

The issue arose when an anonymous fax was sent to the FAI claiming that the tiny nation had fielded players who had previously played for other nations.
