UEFA Cup: Liverpool land Barcelona

Liverpool will play Spanish giants Barcelona in the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup.

The draw in Lyon, Switzerland, gave Gerard Houllier’s men the draw they would have wanted to avoid.

Liverpool swept into the semi-finals following a 2-0 aggregate win over Porto at Anfield last night.

Alaves will play Kaiserslautern in the other semi-final.

The draw for the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup are is follows:

Barcelona v Liverpool

Alaves v Kaiserslautern

First leg ties to be played 5 April

Second leg ties to be played 19 April

Final to be played in Dortmund, Germany on May 16
