Scottish Cup: Dundee Utd dump Rangers out of Cup

Dundee Utd 1, Rangers 0 (full-time)

Rangers’ season was left in tatters by David Hannah’s second-half winner that propelled Dundee United into the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

The side that once dominated Scottish football now face a trophy-less season with a Champions League place for finishing second behind Celtic now their only realistic goal.

Ricksen had to go off through injury and rookie Steven Carson took his place.

Moore knocked Hamilton over on the edge of the box and when Miller tapped the ball to Danny Griffin his shot just skimmed the paint on the crossbar.

Easton found himself in a good position as Porrini challenged but could not clear but the ball was deflected away for a corner.

Hamilton almost chipped Klos from 30 yards, forcing the German into a back-tracking tip over.

Robert Malcolm replaced Moore as Advocaat searched for a game-saving and season-saving formula.

Klos produced one of the saves of the season when substitute Steven Thompson crossed for Lilley to power in a header that the German somehow palmed upwards and over the bar.

Seconds later he had to block again to deny the same player - but the final whistle was not long in coming and it was all over.
