Soccer: FAI scrap eircom Park scheme

The FAI has today accepted the Government proposals to join the national stadium in favour of the eircom Park project.

After a special meeting at the Association’s headquarters it agreed to accept the Government’s offer of £45m to become an anchor tenant of the proposed national stadium by a unanimous vote.

This decision means that the controversial eircom Park scheme will be scrapped.
