Soccer: Gayle set to hit Rangers
Wimbledon striker Marcus Gayle is poised to join Rangers in a reported £1m deal.
Gayle is expected to complete a medical on Thursday after arriving in Glasgow on Wednesday night.
The 30-year-old admits that he listened to the advice of former Dons team-mate John Hartson, who failed an Ibrox medical earlier this season.
"To be honest, I'm still in shock but I'm just absolutely delighted to get the chance to represent such a great club," Gayle said.
"John (Hartson) told me what a wonderful club this is - he just could not stop talking about how brilliant the whole set-up was.
"He was very sad that it didn't work out for him in Glasgow but it has done now at Highfield Road and I'm very happy for him.
"This is such a massive club to come to and I realise that it is going to be a major change to be playing in front of 50,000 in every home game as opposed to what I am used to with Wimbledon at Selhurst Park.
"I think most players in the Premiership watch games involving Rangers and Celtic and I have been very impressed by players like Barry Ferguson, Jorg Albertz and Michael Mols."
