Liverpool took an early two-goal lead in the FA Cup fifth round clash.

Jari Litnamen got the first goal through a penalty in the seventh minute after City goalkeeper Nicky Weaver was deemed to have brought down Vladimir Smicer in the box.

Emile Heskey found the back of the City net on 12 minutes.

Former Man United and Everton star Andrei Kanchelskis pulled a goal back after 29 minutes for City.

Liverpool's Vladimir Smicer scored the third goal for the home team after making the first.

Smicer scored Liverpool's second penalty of the game early in the second half.

Marcus Babbel made it four for Liverpool to ensure their advance to the next stage.

Liverpool have now only two defeats in their last 16 games.
