Premiership: Strachan - Family won't watch Sky Blues

Gordon Strachan has revealed his family no longer go to watch Coventry games.

The Coventry boss said they are upset because of the abuse he receives from fans.

Supporters staged an angry demonstration following Everton's 3-1 victory at Highfield Road on Saturday.

The Sky Blues faithful chanted "we want Strachan out" and "sack the board".

The City boss is determined not to walk away from the club's relegation struggle but he admits it has become too much for his family.

"It is a horrible thing in life to be embarrassed by what you do for a living, but I was against Everton at the weekend," said Strachan.

"My family don't come to the games any more. My wife felt better when I was a player because at least I was on the field and could do something about it when things were going wrong. I don't think she feels great when I am isolated out there."

Strachan is also upset that Coventry fans are giving the club's board a hard time, insisting he has had the full support of chairman Bryan Richardson.

"I have been given every penny that was possible from this club so I don't think the fans can actually blame him or the board," said Strachan.

"The chairman is just like everybody else. He is hugely disappointed at the moment but he has been a good captain of this ship, he has a great personality."

Strachan fully intends stopping the rot which has seen Coventry plunge into the relegation zone and believes he can still get the best out of his players, who leaked three goals in a dismal first 45 minutes against Everton.

"I am going to show the players the first half of the Everton match and I don't want to hear anyone's opinion but my own," he added,

"I want them to sit down and think what they are doing for the club and what I am doing for the club."
