The price tag of the proposed Eircom Park has reportedly rocketed by £50m to £130m.

It is believed the figure was revealed to the board of the FAI at a marathon meeting last night.

The price of building work is now being projected at £109m, as opposed to the original £65m, with overall costs up to £130m, instead of the original £81m.

The association will also be left £56m in debt, whereas the initial proposal was that the project would be self-financing.

A four-man team from the FAI is due to begin contacting proposed new investors such as developers Davy Hickey Properties soon, as the Park starts on its third business plan.
