Ireland star Robbie Brady has begun the long road to recovery after undergoing surgery on the serious knee injury he sustained in Burnley’s 1-0 defeat at Leicester City last Saturday.

The 25-year-old suffered a torn patella tendon in a collision with Leicester’s Harry Maguire and, though the Clarets have not confirmed his campaign is over, a six-month layoff is expected.

On the plus side, Burnley boss Sean Dyche yesterday reported that Brady’s operation has been a success.
