Hugo Lloris content as Tottenham dig deep against Bayer Leverkusen
Tottenham were totally dominant in the first half and had enough chances to put the game beyond Bayer Leverkusen’s reach.
But the Germans came back strongly after half-time to such an extent that Spurs were left hanging on for a draw, with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris called into action time and time again after not having a save to make in the opening 45 minutes.

“At the end of the game we are pleased with the point,” Lloris said.
“In the first half we missed some good chances and at this level if you don’t score it is difficult to win games.
“In the second half they pressed high and we struggled a bit. The game game turned in the second half and I think the draw is a good result.
“We made the job together defensively the defence was strong and the midfield contributed too.
“We can congratulate ourselves as we suffered a lot in the second half and we stayed strong — let’s see what happens in next two weeks.”
It really was a topsy-turvy game, but the draw means Spurs are now second in Group E behind Monaco, who drew 1-1 at CSKA Moscow.
Dele Alli had a glorious opportunity to open in the scoring in the 27th minute when Victor Wanyama bulldozed a path for Kieran Trippier to cross from the right.
The ball sailed towards the far side of goal, where Heung Min Son was waiting to pounce, but Alli got their first as he dashed into the area but managed only to divert his header wide of the target.
Vincent Janssen had found the net earlier, only to be ruled offside when he raced on to a pass from Son,
Although both sides had chances as the game opened up in the second half, Spurs held on for a valuable point.
