Kilmaley National School pupil Rose Carter lined up alongside Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo after winning a competition organised by McDonald’s earlier this year.

Her Dad Luke explained: “My wife works in the McDonald’s in Ennis and so we decided to enter Rose in the competition, which selected a few children from all over Europe to be mascots.

“It’s amazing because there’s an age limit of between 6 and 10 years in this competition and if Rose was a year older she couldn’t have entered.

“These tournaments only roll around every 4 years so you only get one chance at winning it. This makes it even more special for Rose.

“Hopefully, she’ll bring back a few mementos from the game. She’ll be able to pull them out in years to come and tell everybody about the time she walked out with Wales and Portugal in 2016.

“Maybe she can even bring back a jersey with signatures to hang on the wall!”
