The former Senegal international also turned his ire on former Glasgow rival Neil Lennon, who he has branded “a dickhead”.
Reflecting on his time at Anfield for French magazine So Foot, Diouf alleged Gerrard was more concerned with his own image than the progress of the club.
“A great club player and an egotist,” Diouf said of Gerrard. “He did not care that Liverpool win, all that mattered was that brand.”
And there was little festive spirit on show either for now Sky pundit Carragher.
“The person I would least want to spend Christmas with is Jamie Carragher. I hate him.
“He was the biggest turkey I’ve seen on a pitch. I found him useless.”
The Carragher broadside wasn’t entirely unprovoked. The England centre-half wrote in his autobiography that Diouf was the Liverpool signing he liked least.
While Diouf was a Rangers player, he clashed with former Celtic manager Lennon and the Northern Irishman clearly made a significant impression.
“I didn’t know Neil Lennon but saw his face and have always hated him.
“He was at Celtic and I was at Rangers and the two clubs were at war with each other.
“He is a dickhead and I’ve never liked him.
“At the end of the Liverpool-Celtic game in the Uefa Cup, he asked me for my shirt but I never gave it to him.
“I would still not give him it today.”
Diouf currently plays for Sabah in the Malaysian Premier League.
