‘Diver’ Callum McManaman annoys Tony Pulis

West Brom 0 Southampton 0: West Brom head coach Tony Pulis has criticised Callum McManaman for diving to try to win a penalty against Southampton. Pulis felt the winger went down easily under a challenge from Matt Targett in the area.

“I’ve looked at it and I think Callum’s feet actually go up from under him and I don’t think the player has touched him,” he said. “I’ll be having a chat with Callum on Monday.

“I don’t like to see that. The referee and the linesman made a fantastic decision and they deserve a lot of credit.”

Saido Berahino returned as a second-half substitute following his strike threat after the Baggies rejected two deadline day bids from Tottenham.

And Pulis praised the crowd’s reaction to the striker: “I’m pleased he had such a great reception, that’s wonderful and it shows the quality and the depth of our supporters to have given him such a reception.”
