Pirlo, Lampard and co are about to be overshadowed by the latest New York soccer star

Word is eight-time NBA All-Star Steve Nash is training with the Cosmos B team and could play in a National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) game next Sunday, according to reports in the New York Daily News.

The NPSL website indicates a 41-year-old Stephen Nash has been registered to play with Cosmos.

Nash announced his retirement from the NBA in March after nerve damage in his back prevented him playing any part in the Los Angeles Lakers’ campaign. He played 18 seasons with the Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks. He was twice NBA MVP in 2005 and 2006.

Nash grew up in Canada as a soccer fan and his brother Martin is a former Canada international who turned out for Stockport County, Chester City and Macclesfield.
