FAI to release tickets for England game

The Football Association of Ireland will today release a limited number of tickets for Ireland’s friendly with England on June 7 — and purchasers will have to prove Irish identity in order to get a ticket.

The tickets will go on sale today at 10am for the Three International friendly against England on June 7.

All customers will be advised prior to purchase that the tickets must be collected in person at the collection point and will be issued to the purchaser only on production of an Irish passport, driving licence or proof of residence in Ireland.

Security is being stepped up around the game, and the FAI will be keen for the tickets to remain in the hands of Irish supporters. The tickets will be available online through Ticketmaster.ie and must be collected in person by the buyer on match day — Sunday June 7 — from the Ticketmaster collection point (9am to 1pm) at Dublin’s Ballsbridge Hotel.

Although Ireland met England in a friendly at Wembley in March 2013, this is the first meeting in Dublin between the two sides since the ill-fated Lansdowne Road riots of 1995. For their part the FA are already writing to England fans warning them to be on their best behaviour at the Aviva Stadium.

Since April, the association has been engaged in a pre-sale with clubs, leagues, season ticket holders, Club Ireland members, and supporters’ clubs. Now that this process has been completed, a limited number of tickets are being made available. Tickets for the Euro 2016 qualification match against Scotland remain on pre-sale with clubs, leagues and season ticket holders.
