Cork City 1 St Patrick’s Athletic 1 - St Patrick’s Athletic win 5-3 on penalties: Late substitute Chris Forrester, who was only introduced for the penalty shoot-out, converted the winning penalty as St Pat’s edged Cork City to qualify for the semi-finals of the EA Sports Cup at Turners Cross last night.

Brendan Clarke saved City’s first penalty from Garry Buckley and Pat’s converted all five of theirs to join Galway, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers in the last four.

Ross Gaynor was returning for the home side after a hamstring injury and boss John Caulfield, with one eye on Friday’s big clash with Shamrock Rovers, made nine changes to the side that narrowly defeated Limerick on Saturday.
