Vincenzo Montella hoping for a miracle for Fiorentina

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella hopes to instill belief in his players that they can overcome a 3-0 deficit to reach the Europa League final for the second time in their history (8.05pm, live on Setanta Ireland).

The Viola take on Sevilla at Stadio Artemio Franchi tonight trailing after a brace of goals from defender Aleix Vidal and a strike from substitute Kevin Gameiro helped the Primera Division side claim a valuable advantage in last week’s semi-final first leg played in Seville.

Ahead of the clash against the defending champions, Montella said: “To make the (comeback) story (come true) you have to believe intimately – I will try to convince all players.

“I can see it, really, as long as all the components should be in the right place.”

Sevilla, who defeated Benfica 4-2 on penalties in last year’s final in Turin, hold all the cards going into the game and striker Carlos Bacca believes Unai Emery’s side can reach the showpiece in Warsaw later this month.

The 28-year-old Colombia international is convinced the Spanish side would “give everything to be” in the May 27 final – as they look for their fourth title – where, if successful, they would take on the winner of the clash between Dnipro and Napoli.

Bacca said: “We have been working (towards this) since the beginning of this season as one of the strongest objectives of Sevilla FC.

“We have to play a good game, be smart and respecting of the opponent because Fiorentina are a difficult Italian team (to face).

“We are 90 minutes away from being back in the final and we will give everything to be there.”
