A greater array of options means Cork City manager John Caulfield is more likely to rotate his side depending on the opposition compared to last season.

For last Friday’s 5-0 win over Limerick, Caulfield made three changes to the team which drew 1-1 at Sligo Rovers in the opening game. Ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to Shamrock Rovers (8pm), he admits that different factors will inform his decisions.

“It’s slightly different this year, we have a much bigger panel, we have different dynamics,” said Caulfield. “I’ve spoken to the players about it, last year maybe we were fielding the same 11 for quite a few weeks because our options weren’t as great.”
