Rapist Evans set to join Oldham

Rapist footballer Ched Evans could be about to return to the English game after holding talks with Oldham Athletic about joining the club, it is understood.

Last month Oldham insisted they would not be offering Evans a contract or an opportunity to train but it is understood further discussions have taken place since then.

Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) chief executive Gordon Taylor confirmed a League One side will hold a press conference today in relation to the signing of the 26-year-old striker, but would not name the club involved. Oldham were not available for comment but on December 1, the club issued a statement saying: “The board of directors would like to confirm we will not be extending an invitation for Ched Evans to train with Oldham Athletic nor will we be offering him a contract.”
