Rodgers confident Reds can achieve top four finish

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes his side are "absolutely" still in the hunt for a Champions League place even though it would require an unprecedented effort to achieve the target.

Rodgers confident Reds can achieve top four finish

The size of the challenge facing Liverpool is particularly challenging with the club nine points adrift of West Ham in fourth spot. Liverpool have 22 points from 17 games and no Premier League team has ever finished higher than sixth with that record at this stage. But Rodgers remains cautiously optimistic that following arguably their best display at Anfield this season, they can secure a return to European football’s elite competition.

“Can we still make the top four? Absolutely,” Rodgers said. “We have got to make up points, but I think we have showed that this is a group that can go on a run of games. In the second half of last season we went on a run of 11 games. If we can put a run together that can very quickly move you up the table.
