Mooreland goal shoots Corinthians three clear

MSL: A Peter Mooreland strike was enough to put College Corinthians three points clear at the top of the Beamish Stout Munster Senior League Premier Division after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over UCC at Corinthians Park on Saturday-

Tadgh O’Connell’s side have been flying of late and this win sets them up nicely for their Intermediate Cup replay against Templeogue on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Rockmount remain the only unbeaten side in the division after a Conor O’Neill goal saw them defeat Everton 1-0 at Everton Park.

St Mary’s moved up to second with an impressive 3-1 win over Carrigaline United at Ballea Park on Friday, while Castleview and Douglas Hall drew 1-1 at O’Sullivan Park on Thursday.

In the first division, goals from Patrick Crowley, Danny Murphy and Anthony Crowley saw Blarney United maintain their five point lead at the top with a 3-0 win over Ballincollig at Landing Field.

Aidan O’Donoghue and Gavin Shields were on the mark as second-placed Bandon defeated Ringmahon Rangers 2-0 in Bandon. Fermoy drew 2-2 with Casement Celtic in Fermoy, and Leeds drew 2-2 with Mayfield United at Leeds Park.

In the second division, Leeside held high-flying Cobh Wanderers 2-2 in Little Island, Passage United defeated Kinsale 3-2 in Passage, Glasheen beat Crosshaven by a similar scoreline, while Mallow saw off Youghal United 3-0.

In the Munster Cup 2nd round, Avondale United defeated Wilton United 3-0 at The Lee Road.
