Lambert: There was no bust-up

Roy Keane’s sudden departure from Aston Villa was nothing to do with him falling out with any of the club’s players, manager Paul Lambert has insisted.

Lambert: There was no bust-up

Lambert is fuming at claims that Keane’s decision to resign as Villa’s assistant manager was because of a bust-up at the club’s Bodymoor Heath training ground.

“Contrary to reports, there was no bust-up or argument or anything like that,” said Lambert. “We still have the same relationship and I want to put all this to bed now. There was absolutely no problem whatsoever and I respect Roy’s decision.

“I thank him for his time for coming to work with me. Roy has got a lot of commitments with Ireland.

“He’s never had a break from going away with Ireland and working all the time with Aston Villa.”
