Long delighted to break duck for Saints

Republic of Ireland international striker Shane Long has expressed relief at scoring for Southampton — at the 12th attempt.

Long broke his duck following his £12m summer move from Hull City in Southampton’s 3-2 Capital One Cup win at Stoke City on Wednesday.

He said: “It’s a purely selfish thing, getting that first goal under your belt and I’m obviously delighted to have got it.
