Ireland march on after win

Two first-half goals put Ireland in control.

Full-back Corey O’Keefe netted his first international goal on seven minutes by seizing upon a free-kick by Jake Doyle-Hayes before Josh Barrett added a second on 35 minutes.

The Faroes pulled a goal back on 49 minutes through Paeter Peterson’s shot that deflected past Ross Treacy.

Though Ireland’s two-goal cushion was restored in the 69th minute when the impressive Steven Kinsella headed home, the Islanders once again reduced the arrears within 60 seconds as David Muller barged clear to finish.

Ireland eventually killed the tie off in stoppage time with a fourth goal courtesy of a Trevor Clarke header.
