Keane and Given look set for Ireland return

Irish football is preparing itself for a return to the boards of the old Shay n’ Robbie show.

Keane and Given look set for Ireland return

Although Robbie Keane, pictured, missed LA Galaxy’s 4-1 win against DC United on Wednesday with a knock, manager Bruce Arena is hopeful he will be back for Sunday’s ‘SuperClasico’ against Chivas USA.

“Robbie is day-to-day now, he might be available on Sunday,” said the Galaxy coach.

Barring any complications then, Keane will be able to link up with Ireland’s squad for next Wednesday’s friendly against Oman in Dublin ahead of the big one — the following Sunday’s opening Euro 2016 qualifier away to Georgia. And it seems the skipper is also set to be reunited with fellow veteran Shay Given, in line for a surprise recall to the senior panel after an absence of two years. The 38-year-old, capped 125 times, is expected to be called upon to add his vast experience to Martin O’Neill’s final squad for the upcoming games.
