Limerick and Taylor part company

Limerick FC have announced that manager Stuart Taylor has left the club.

A statement on the clubs website read: "Limerick FC and Stuart Taylor wish to confirm that they will amicably part company this evening, following eighteen months of the Scotsman’s tenure at the club."

Taylor, who before the start of this season's SSE Airtricity Premier Division season claimed he wanted to stay beyond his current contract, said it was the right time for him to leave.

"I have really enjoyed my time as manager of Limerick FC and I am very proud of the progress made and what has been achieved by the club over the last 18 months," said Taylor.

He added: "I do now however feel that the time is right for me to step away from the club." Taylor also thanked the supporters and club officials in his statement.

Limerick chairman Pat 'O Sullivan said: "Having spoken to Stuart repeatedly in recent days, this decision is the best for both parties.

"We wish Stuart all the very best in his future career and are confident that someone with his skills and experience will be quickly snapped up."

Tommy Barrett will join the remaining senior management team ahead of Friday night’s trip to Athlone Town FC.

Taylor took over at the Thomond Park based club at the start of the 2013 season, Limerick's first in the top flight since 1994. Limerick currently lie in eigth place in the Premier Division.
