McCarthy agrees new three-year deal at Ipswich

Former Ireland boss Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor have agreed new three-year deals with Championship side Ipswich Town.

The duo took over at Portman Road in November 2012 and led the Suffolk club to ninth last season.

“I’m delighted,” McCarthy said. “I’m looking forward to it and I’m looking forward to the new season, forget the new contract. We’ll be here for another three years, hopefully!

McCarthy’s Ipswich started pre-season training yesterday and will spend a week of their preparations in Ireland, at Carton House hotel in Co Kildare, before playing a friendly against Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Saturday, July 12.

Meanwhile, McCarthy has confirmed that Ireland winger Stephen Hunt, 32, has agreed a new one-year deal with Ipswich.
