McGrath: Villa would be very lucky to have Keane

Roy Keane’s planned appointment as Aston Villa’s assistant manager has been given the full backing of Republic of Ireland and Villa Park legend Paul McGrath.

McGrath, who was nicknamed ‘God’ during his spell at Villa between 1989 and 1996 when he made 325appearances, can’t wait to see his former Ireland team-mate Keane link-up with manager Paul Lambert.

He said: “Should they persuade Keano to join Paul Lambert’s staff then they will be very lucky to have him on board.
