But, unlike many other players who are out of contract at this time of year, the Millwall goalkeeper is entitled to feel he can assess his future from a position of strength.
“I’m in talks with Millwall, they’ve made me an offer so we’re back and forth and there is a few others sniffing around so I’ll just get this week out of the way and the big game Saturday against Italy,” he says. “I’ve got a contract until the end of the June.
“It’s probably the best position I’ve been in, playing for my country and player of the year for my club.”
While he says his target would be the Premier League — “it would be great to get there with Millwall” — he also let slip that, among the expressions of interest in him so far, has been one from Germany.
“I’d have no problem moving,” he says. “It’s still in the mix. I’ve got to weigh up the best options for me and my family. At the end of the day, that’s all that counts.”
